GOTO Donor Appreciation Event 2012

On Thursday September 20th, GOTO hosted its first large donor appreciation event. It was a special evening held at the original HQ, in New York City, where volunteers and scholars gathered to celebrate GOTO's most generous donors. We would like to thank everyone who helped make that night a huge success!

Over the course of the evening, we heard from GOTO's Chairman & Executive Director Rainah Berlowitz. Rainah spoke about the current state of GOTO, as well as several new developments. In both the New York and Boston programs Rainah spoke about the positive growth that the scholarship programs are experiencing. As a group, he indicated that we are focusing on recruitment of new volunteers and improving our sense of community through more face-to-face volunteer activities. Evan Raggi spoke on behalf of the development committee to share details around our strong fundraising year and to highlight some of the plans to further our fundraising efforts.

I am pleased to share that we also engaged in a spirited discussion about our mission and the growth plans for GOTO. This discussion included donors, scholars, and volunteers which was incredibly helpful on many levels. Additionally, it seems that we may soon reach a watershed moment in our progression where we can grow beyond our New York and Boston base to spread the GOTO mission of offering promising, underprivileged middle school students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the arts. There are many more amazing students in our area and across the nation, who could benefit from our scholarship program and instead, may be experiencing a learning gap over the summer months. It is vital that we create opportunity for their personal and educational growth particularly in these hard times!

Last, but certainly not least, a special thank you to all of our donors – special mention to Jason Liddell, Stephen Moeller, Nick Rankin, Dominick Maggio, Denji Yiu, and Todd Burner. Every dollar means so much to our scholars and we hope that you continue to support GOTO in any way that you can. We look forward to seeing you all very soon at another exciting event!
